NFL POWER RANKINGS WEEK 3: NFC West has a good week.

All 32 NFL teams ranked after week 2. Previous week rankings

The Twist: Each week my top 12 ranked teams will consist of 6 NFC teams and 6 AFC teams since 6 from each conference will qualify for the post season. I reflect the top 12 teams most likely to make the playoffs each week.

NFC West kicks Butt in week 2:

  • 49ers stay number one of all teams by beating the Lions and staying 2-0.
  • Cardinals go 2-0 by beating the Patriots in Foxborough. No small accomplishment. Up 10 spots in my rankings.
  • Seahawks knocked off Dallas 27-7. Seahawks move up 7 spots this week.
  • Rams picked up their first win in quite a while by defeating the Redskins.  The Rams move up 7 spots this week.

Biggest movers down:

  • Cowboys down 6. Ugly in Seattle. Headed home to play tough Bucs team.
  • Saints down 9.  0-2 and really bad on defense allowing 75 points in two games. Tied with lowly Chiefs for most points allowed.
  • Redskins down 7.  With Saints losing again, took luster off last week’s win combined with a loss at Rams.
  • Titans down 8.  0-2 and not even playing teams close. Out scored by 49 points in two games.

  1. Interesting to compare your rankings with those from Nfl.com Power Poll…both polls agree on #1 through #4–49ers, Texans, Falcons & Packers. Then they have the Eagles @ #5 but I agree with you that they should actually 1-1 or even 0-2. You both agree on the Ravens @ #6 (maybe should be even higher–as they could & should have beaten the Eagles).

Your ranking of the Bears may be too high (#7)–but not sure the Patriots should be there either (where they have them). I agree with you that the Broncos don’t deserve #8 (where they rank them)–but more like #11 (where you have them) after last night’s meltdown in Atlanta.

Next they have the Giants (tied with the Steelers)–which may be about right, after their huge comeback last weekend. Interesting that you both have our ‘Boys dropping to #15–which, unless they can get it together & get a couple of wins at home the next 2 weeks, is probably about right. Let’s just hope that playing in front of their home fans will help…

    • The Ravens have a tendency to lose on the road (4-4 last year on the road). And they play in a tough division so it kind of works against them as far as wins go.

I think the Bears are better because of additions at WR but certainly had a tough game losing to Packers. We will see about the Bears.

I’m not sold on Giants yet. They should be 0-2 and very nearly were. They have had 2 home games and are barely 1-1. Now they go on the road.

Think Dallas will benefit from some home games.
