NFL Power Rankings Week 6: Two Teams Replaced in the Top 12 Teams

All 32 NFL teams ranked after week 5.  Previous weeks ranking.

The Twist: Each week my top 12 ranked teams will consist of 6 NFC teams and 6 AFC teams since 6 from each conference will qualify for the post season. I reflect the top 12 teams most likely to make the playoffs each week.

TOP 5

For the past three weeks, the top 5 ranked teams have stayed the same with just a different order to them. The Cardinals picked up their first lost of the season to the Rams which moved them down to #5.

TOP 12 Teams:

  • OUT: The Broncos fall out of the top 12 teams to #17 after a not so impressive loss to the Patriots that leaves them with a 2-3 record. With Manning, the Broncos appear competitive enough but not ready to be a top 12 team just yet.  The Steelers who they defeated in week one, replace them.
  • IN: The Steelers had a bye last week but came back to beat the NFC East leading Eagles. They move into the top 12 at #9. I look for the Steelers to start putting it together now.
  • OUT: The Packers lose to a determined Colts team led by their rookie QB Luck.  No replacement refs to blame for this one. Maybe the Packers just aren’t quite as good as we thought. That leaves the Packers with a losing record of 2-3.  I don’t want teams with losing records in my top 12.   The surging Vikings replace them.
  • IN: The Vikings are 4-1 with a 1-0 division record after defeating the not so good Titans in a convincing matter 30-7. Looking like a contender in the tough NFC North, the Vikings move into the top 12 teams at #8.
